Some weddings don’t need to shout to be remembered. Niamh and See Wah chose Finca Monasterio in Sotogrande for exactly that reason — a place where old stone walls, open skies and warm southern light do all the talking. Two people, an intimate group of their closest, and a day that felt genuinely theirs.
Finca Monasterio is one of those rare Sotogrande wedding venues that does everything quietly and well. The estate has the kind of character that larger, more polished venues spend years trying to fake — stone archways, mature gardens, open fields, and a ceremony space outdoors that frames the landscape rather than competing with it. For an intimate destination wedding, it’s close to perfect.

Niamh and See Wah are an international couple who traveled to southern Spain specifically for this. No excess, no performance. Mediterranean outfits, a symbolic ceremony in the open air, a small group of people who genuinely wanted to be there. As a Sotogrande wedding photographer, days like this are the ones I remember longest — not because of the grandeur, but because of the quality of attention everyone brings when a wedding is this size.

<template data-pt-type='blog' data-pt-slideshowid='69c268390e19aaa195543d99' ></template>

Sotogrande has become one of the most sought-after destinations for intimate international weddings in southern Spain — and Finca Monasterio is one of the reasons why. The combination of a historic estate, outdoor ceremony spaces and the light of coastal Andalusia makes it a natural choice for couples traveling from abroad.
If you’re planning a wedding at Finca Monasterio or anywhere in the Sotogrande area and are looking for a photographer who works well with small, elegant celebrations, I’d love to hear about your day.

The property — a fully restored Andalusian manor — sits within manicured gardens that feel more like a private estate than an event space. Moorish tilework, arched doorways, a centuries-old orange tree anchoring the central courtyard. Grandeur without ostentation. For international couples planning a destination wedding in Spain, there is nowhere quite like it.

Seville's historic centre has no shortage of beautiful places to prepare for a wedding, and theirs was no exception: high ceilings, shuttered windows, morning light arriving at exactly the right angle. Alejandra's dress — structured silk, minimal, quietly considered — caught it perfectly. Alexander was quieter than I expected. Not nervous. Considered. He read something before leaving — a piece of paper, folded and refolded — and I didn't ask what it was.

THE FIRST LOOK — PLAZA DE ESPAÑA
This is where their wedding becomes unlike any other I have documented at Villa Luisa. They chose to hold their first look — and read their vows to each other privately, before the ceremony — at the Plaza de España. If you have not stood there on a quiet morning, before the city fully wakes, it is difficult to explain what it does to you. The semicircular colonnade, the ceramic bridges over the canal, the mosaics of every Spanish province arranged beneath your feet — it is architecture built expressly for ceremony, and yet somehow it feels completely intimate. Alexander stood at the bridge facing the central fountain. Alejandra walked toward him through the arcade. When he turned and saw her, neither of them spoke for several seconds. Whatever they had carried into that morning — the logistics, the planning, the weight of two families watching — they left it there, on the tiles of the Plaza de España.formation and showcase your work to potential clients.

THE CEREMONY AT VILLA LUISA
By the time guests gathered in the gardens for the ceremony, the afternoon light had shifted to something warmer and more horizontal. The ceremony space — set beneath a natural canopy of orange trees, with the manor's facade as a backdrop — required almost no decoration. The architecture did the work.

COCKTAIL HOUR & RECEPTION
The reception moved from garden to interior as evening fell. Candlelight replaced sunlight with barely a pause. The catering team served a menu that understood exactly what international guests need from a Spanish dinner: generous, unhurried, and entirely without compromise on the wine.

THE PARTY
The dancing, when it began, did not stop until the early hours.
For couples considering Villa Luisa, a few practical notes that may save you months of uncertainty.
Booking the venue. Villa Luisa operates on an exclusive-use model — when you book, the property is yours entirely for the day. This is both its greatest luxury and the reason availability is genuinely limited. The most sought-after dates are typically reserved twelve to eighteen months in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, enquire early.
Legal vs symbolic ceremonies. Marrying legally in Spain as a non-resident involves civil registry requirements that can be complex and time-consuming. Many international couples — including Alexander and Alejandra — choose to complete their legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Seville. Legally identical in sentiment, infinitely simpler in logistics, and it means you arrive at Villa Luisa focused entirely on the celebration.
Guest logistics. Cluster your guests in two or three hotels close to the venue — it makes the days around the wedding feel like a house party rather than a conference. Villa Luisa’s location makes this straightforward.
The best months for photography. Seville’s light is extraordinary for most of the year, but the shoulder seasons — spring and late summer through early winter — offer something particularly rare: warmth without harshness, colour without oversaturation.

Step into a world where romance meets sophistication and elegance dances under the Spanish sun. Picture this: a stunning winery in southern Spain, a backdrop of rolling vineyards and ancient stone walls, a table set with crystal glasses and flickering candles, and a couple so in love it's palpable in every photograph.

Can you feel the magic in the air? Can you taste the richness of the wine and hear the laughter of guests drifting through the air? This wedding was nothing short of a fairytale come to life, a scene straight out of a dream.

The bride was a vision in white lace, her veil trailing behind her like a whisper of silk. Her groom stood beside her, strong and steady, his eyes filled with adoration and his smile contagious. Together, they were a picture of timeless love, a bond that could weather any storm.

As the sun dipped low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the vineyards, I captured moment after moment of pure joy and genuine emotion. Each photograph was a work of art, a masterpiece in its own right, telling a story of love and commitment that would last a lifetime.

In a world that moves at the speed of light, where trends come and go in the blink of an eye, there is something truly special about a wedding that exudes timeless elegance and grace. It is a reminder that some things never go out of style, that true love is the greatest luxury of all.

And as I look back on the images from that day, I am reminded of the power of aesthetics, of the ability of a single photograph to transport you back in time, to evoke emotions and memories long forgotten. It is a gift that I am honored to share with each and every one of my clients, a way to preserve the beauty and magic of their special day for years to come.

So, as you peruse these images from that international, elegant, and stylish wedding in a winery in southern Spain, I invite you to immerse yourself in the romance and splendor of the day. Let yourself be swept away by the beauty and the magic, and remember that true love is always in style.
